This Newair Beverage Cooler Is So Cool

Disclosure: I received a complimentary product in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

I have never owned a beverage cooler before. However, after trying out the Newair 126 Can Freestanding Beverage Cooler, I wonder how I went so long without one!

Our family has been using this Newair Beverage Cooler for sparkling water (we are kind of addicted) and to a lesser extent, soda. I am amazed by how many cans it holds. Before we had a cooler, we would just store the cans in our garage since we could only allot space for a few cans in our regular refrigerator. Now when I come home from a Costco shopping trip, I can just load the cans directly in the Newair.

I am a fan of the modern and sleek style of this Newair Beverage Cooler. The clear glass door makes it easy to see your selection of beverages. I put the cooler in an unused corner of my kitchen, but it would also be a nice addition to an office or business. The LED light really adds a “wow” factor, and it can be turned on or off.

Although this unit holds a lot of drinks, it is relatively compact: 18.40″D x 18.90″W x 32.40″H (33.00″ w/hinge). I am also impressed with how quiet it is. I am looking forward to telling guests to help themselves to a chilled beverage from our Newair 126 Can Freestanding Beverage Cooler in the future!

Make Your Laundry Eco-Friendly With ECO Products

Disclosure: I received samples in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

One of my unexpected discoveries from the Online Nourished Festival was the ECO line of products. These innovative cleaning products reduce waste and eliminate the use of chemicals.

Currently, there are four products available:

  • ECOSCENT: This product eliminates the need of dryer sheets and can be reused for 3-6 months. I personally do not use dryer sheets, but I know many people do. This sounds like a good chemical-free alternative.
  • ECOBOOST: This product reduces the amount of laundry detergent you need to use by 50%. It enhances cleaning, odor reduction and has a potent antibacterial effect on laundry. It can be reused for 300 loads of laundry.
  • ECOWASH: This product is a 100% natural laundry washer that is reusable for 300 washes, or one year’s use. It completely replaces the need for laundry detergent! According to the website, It cleans as effective as laundry detergent, reduces odor 10X better than traditional detergent and has a potent antibacterial effect on laundry.
  • ECOBATH: This product is a pure mineral bath infuser that continuously releases molecular hydrogen (H2) into the bath. According to the website, ECOBATH improves skin hydration, speeds wound healing, enhances skin barrier function and decreases inflammation. It is also effective for stress relief, soaking achy muscles and joints, highly therapeutic for psoriasis, eczema and many other health conditions. It is reusable for 300 baths and does not contain any toxic or synthetic chemicals.

Here is an up-close look at the ECOBOOST. All you have to do is place it in the laundry machine with the clothes you want to wash and use half of the detergent you normally use. After washing, remove the ECOBOOST so that it can air dry, or leave the laundry machine door open. I tried it out on my sheets, and I could not tell that I had used less laundry detergent. It still had that freshly-laundered feel!

The science that makes these products effective is really interesting. Instead of trying to explain the process in my own words, here is the official explanation found on the Natural Products website:

The mineral in the bag reacts in the water in three ways. 1: The mineral pellets release thousands of molecular hydrogen nano-bubbles which are so small they force their way through clothing fibers pushing out dirt, sebum, germs, bacteria and odor into the water to be rinsed away. 2. The pH level is increased creating ionized alkaline water which enhances the cleaning process. 3. Magnesium hydroxide is released which acts as a natural cleansing agent and highly effective natural antibacterial agent.

Charlie’s Soap Helps You Green Your Clean

Disclosure: I received samples in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

In my constant quest to find natural products to use inside and outside the home, I came across Charlie’s Soap. This company is dedicated to the following motto: “Live Green. Deep Clean.” I appreciate that Charlie’s Soap products contain only biodegradable and hypo-allergenic ingredients both for my family’s health and the environment.

Charlie’s Soap sent us their Natural Laundry Liquid Detergent, Oxygen Bleach and Indoor & Outdoor Surface Cleaner to try out in our home.

Charlie’s Soap Laundry Products

Welcome to the not-so-glamorous laundry space in our garage! I don’t think our blog has ever gone here before-ha!

At first, I was surprised that this small bottle of laundry detergent could do 50 loads! The amount needed is just a small capful. I liked that this detergent is unscented as I personally find strong-smelling detergents to be off-putting. This liquid detergent is also a lot less “gloppy” than other detergents I have used, so there is no messy residue left in the cap. Overall, I was pleased with the cleaning capability of this detergent.

In the past, I have been weary of using bleach with my laundry. Let’s just say I have had some bad experiences in the past. However, I do have a lot of white towels and sheets, so I know that laundry products with bleach could be my friend. Charlie’s Soap Oxygen Bleach comes in a powder form that can be added to your load of laundry. It does not contain chlorine, nor does it contain any perfumes or dyes. I was quite pleased with how my whites came out whiter, all without any harsh chemicals.

Charlie’s Soap Indoor & Outdoor Surface Cleaner

I have to admit, cleaning outdoor surfaces is not on the top of my to-do list. It was not difficult for me to think of places in my backyard where I could try out Charlie’s Soap Indoor & Outdoor Surface Cleaner.

The application could not be simpler. I sprayed the cleaner onto the surface I wanted to clean and waited the recommended thirty minutes. I used a brush to scrub the dirt off and used a hose to rinse it down.

I was impressed with the results. This stain had been there for a long time. I think if I repeated the process again, it would look even better! Charlie’s Soap Indoor & Outdoor Cleaner does not contain any abrasives, perfumes, phosphates, bleach, lye or dyes. The bottle says this cleaner can be used for cars, boats, bikes, driveways, siding, walls, pets, hands, engines, grills, and furniture. The cleaning possibilities seem endless!

Where to Purchase Charlie’s Soap

Charlie’s Soap products can be purchased through their website, or at a store near you. I was actually surprised to see that this brand is available at several stores where I shop. I will need to pay more attention to the shelves the next time I am shopping for cleaning supplies.

Beautify Your Walls With National Park Posters

Disclosure: I received samples in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Some of our best family memories have been made while visiting the National Parks. We have visited 25 National Parks as a family so far, and we hope to continue to add to our list. I love the idea of decorating your home in a way that evokes memories. Therefore, I am so excited about the stunning National Park artwork available at National Park Posters.

Yosemite, Yellowstone and Zion are some of our all-time favorite National Parks! Love how these posters bring back wonderful family memories every time I look at them.

Robert B. Decker is the artist behind these beautiful works of art. Decker is a photographer and graphic artist who had the amazing opportunity to study under Ansel Adams in Yosemite National Park when he was only 19 years old! His love for the national parks shines through all of the details.

The vintage style of these National Park posters is so cool. They are inspired by the iconic WPA artwork of the 1930s and 40s. Even my husband, who usually does not really express his opinions about interior design, was impressed. Each numbered, signed and dated poster is printed on a 100% recycled stock with soy based inks. These posters would make a thoughtful gift for anyone who appreciates the outdoors.

It is also nice to know that National Park Posters donates 10 percent of profits to help the organizations, trusts, conservancies and associations that support the National Parks.

Where to Purchase National Park Posters

All of Robert B. Decker’s posters, canvas prints, postcards and artist proofs can be purchased through his National Park Posters website. Currently, there are some really great summer BOGO discounts being offered! You can also sign up for the e-mail club and receive all the latest news, sales, etc.

Scrapbook Paper Desk Organizer

I have a slight obsession with scrapbook paper. There are so many lovely designs, and I cannot help but pick up a pad (or two) when I go to Michaels, Joann’s or my new favorite, Tuesday Morning. However, I am not very good about using my paper up. I always find myself wanting to “save” my favorite papers for a special project, not just for something that will be thrown away. I have also been in an organizing mood, so here is a project that helps you use your scrapbook paper and organize at the same time!

I started with the $5 Antonius clear organizer from Ikea. Inspired by this blog post from I Heart Organizing, I made a “liner” from scrapbook paper for each section or the organizer. I decided to go one step further, and laminated each liner for extra durability. Now I can look at some of my favorite paper designs everyday, instead of letting them sit unused in a drawer.

Are you good about using up your scrapbook paper? Have you been tackling any organization projects?

M.O.M. Master Organizer of Mayhem Book Review

Organizing my house and life seems to be a never-ending battle. When I came across this book, M.O.M. Master Organizer of Mayhem, the title immediately spoke to me. Mayhem is the perfect word to describe the state of my house on many days. I have read countless books about organizing that offer various tips, but the difficult part is actually implementing them on a consistent basis.

Kristi Clover, the author of M.O.M., offers her organization advice in three phases. Phase I is about “Ten Simple Rules That Will Change Your Home Life”. Phase II talks about six “Systems That Will Make Your Home Efficient”. Phase III is entitled, “Bringing It All Together to Create a Home You Love!”

Clover’s advice is based on first-hand experience regarding what has worked for her own busy household. However, I like how she emphasizes that every family has different needs and phases of life. She does not claim that there are certain organizing techniques that work for everyone. She encourages the reader to persist through the trial and error phase and not give up altogether. One little tip that I am trying with my own family is to write out a list of to-dos for each family member instead of constantly nagging. It will be interesting to see if it works in the next few weeks! If you are looking for inspiration to kick-start an organized life, M.O.M. Master Organizer of Mayhem is a good place to start.

Organize and Keep Your Refrigerator Clean With Fridge Coasters

Disclosure: I received samples in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Since returning from our vacation, I have been turning my attention to cleaning and organizing our home. When I think about all that needs to be done, it feels overwhelming. However, I have been trying to break it down by concentrating on different zones. Today I am sharing a product that will help out with your refrigerator: Fridge Coasters.

Fridge Coasters are just what the name implies: “coasters” for your refrigerator. They are made from natural hard pressed wood pulp and printed with vegetable based inks. Fridge Coasters absorb drips and spills that inevitably occur in the refrigerator and eliminate moisture and odor. Once the coasters have done their job, they are easy to remove, recycle/compost and replace. They eliminate (or at least greatly reduce) the need to scrub refrigerator shelves and drawers.

Fridge Coasters come in a variety of styles and designs. The sight of these cheery liners make me smile every time I open my refrigerator. They also serve as motivation for me to keep my refrigerator organized and to toss the items that are past their prime.

Along with liners for the main shelves, there are also liners for the smaller side door compartments. My side doors were a little smaller than the liners, so I just gave them a trim with regular scissors to make them fit. Read more about Fridge Coasters and purchase them here.

I am excited when I find simple solutions to different household challenges. Let me know if you have found any products that help keep your home neat and organized!

One of my readers will win a set of Fridge Coasters in the design of their choice. Enter below!

Make Art With Your Memories: Canvas Factory Review + Giveaway

I received a free canvas print from Canvas Factory in exchange for this review.  All opinions are my own.

image

Although we have lived in our house since 2009, we still have a lot of blank walls.  I can be indecisive when it comes to home decor, since I want the things in my home to be meaningful and to reflect my style.  At the same time, I have taken thousands of pictures of my family and places we have visited.  However, most of these pictures live here on the blog; I rarely have them printed.  Well, I had the opportunity to try out Canvas Factory and I have found a solution to my problem!

Before this blogging opportunity came up, I had actually recently ordered another print from Canvas Factory.  This is a picture of me and the kids in Sedona.  I really liked the red rock background.  When D saw it he wanted to know why he was not included.  Well, he was the one taking the picture!  I promised him that I would include him in the next one.

IMG_1904

Canvas Factory makes the ordering process really easy.  You choose the size you want, and then upload a picture from your computer.  The most difficult part for me was choosing which picture I wanted to use!

IMG_1891

The time between placing my order and having it delivered to my home was really quick.

IMG_1906

I am seriously impressed with the quality of the canvas.  The sides are 1.2″ thick and the corners are neatly finished.

IMG_1907

Here you can see that I chose the “wraparound” version for this canvas.  You can also choose to do a mirror effect, or to have a solid color on the sides if you want to preserve more of the photo on the front.  Another customization they offer is to add text, which could be fun.

IMG_1914

The canvases come with hangers, so they can be displayed vertically or horizontally.  I also appreciate not having to worry about frames with these canvas prints.

IMG_1920

I thought these canvases would look nice in our entryway.  Both of these canvases are 16″ x 20″, to give you a sense of scale.

IMG_1927

I really like how these prints give a pop of color to the walls. It is also nice to be greeted with warm family memories right when I walk through our front door.

A canvas print would make a lovely present for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, or any occasion, really.  It seems like Canvas Factory always has a good sale going on, so check out their site.  For our Canadian friends, order here.  I also have an opportunity to win a 16″ x 20″ for yourself!

Organizing With Daiso Products

001

This was the sorry state of our homeschool/homework desk.  Fed up, I decided to go to Daiso for some organization help.  While we had plastic boxes for colored pencils, crayons and markers, they were not working because no one wanted to put the lids back on.  Plus, they took up too much room on the table.

002

My purchases consisted of the two trays on the left and four stackable boxes—all $1.50 each!  Fingers crossed that this system will work better and this space will not return to the chaos pictured above.

Hello Succulents!

I may have lost my blogging mojo, but I have plans to get back on the train.  We will start “simple”, which seems to be n’s favorite word these days.  “It’s simple Mommy, it’s simple.”

007

n helped me make this terrarium with succulents.  It really was quite simple.  I have had the one in the forefront for a couple of years now, which I bought at the UCI farmers market.  The two in the back were recently purchased at Home Depot.  The one in the back left is a Red-Headed Irishman and the one in the back right is called Bunny Ears.  The Red-Headed Irishman is a tricky one to handle because its spikes are so sharp!  The Bunny Ears is so soft, but after touching it and having n touch it, I read the label which warned against touching it—oops.  We put gravel on the bottom and added cactus soil.  The final touch was to add smooth polished rocks that we bought in Bryce as a souvenir.
